Apologies for the lack of updates. Family matters have kept us busy.
Weather wise, May had it all. We had both our furnace and air conditioning on during the month. We went from single-digit temps in the first half to record-breaking highs in the 30s during the last half.
House wise, well, things have been on the back burner. Not much being done to the house, though floor replacement and new bedroom and bathroom doors may happen this summer – maybe. Outside, I am in the process of lining up quotes for four projects: 1) Fence repair (a couple of posts are loose and need to be replaces); 2) re-sodding the lawn (I killed half of it last year in a valiant by vain effort using the rototiller); 3) concrete for a pad beside the garage, an at-grade patio and new back steps; 4) gate between house and garage to keep the boys in, and secure the backyard.
I plan on doing some other outdoor work myself, including new edging along the Rivard flowerbed, a foot-high knee wall along another flowerbed/vegetable garden and some stone edging along the garage flowerbed. Other work includes topping up mulch where needed and weeding.
Corbin wise, he is being admitted to the resident program at CPRI in London for a minimum of six weeks. He won’t miss Camp Winston, a position we took from the beginning, Hopefully, six weeks is enough for the team at CPRI to figure out his medications and develop new coping strategies both for Corbin and for Tina and myself. Corbin will return home on weekends.
Jeremy is improving his reading skills. He is sounding out letters and recognizes words he has memorized. Thank you Mrs. Murphy. He loves playing basketball and soccer – even the school Principal was amazed at Jeremy’s dribbling skills. Perhaps Jeremy has a bright future on the school sports teams. He does have a knack of kicking soccer balls onto the school roof. Fortunately for Jeremy, the balls blow off the roof.
Summer plans involve two weeks with no kids: Corbin at Camp Winston and Jeremy at Babcia Camp in Brantford. The week after that we are renting a cottage on Lake Simcoe between Barrie and Orillia. Should be a relaxing time for all.
In August we plan on going back to the CNE and maybe going to African Lion Safari or other nearby local attractions.
